Agroforestry: Sustainable Farming for a Better Future
At Kibo's Ecoplace, we harmonize agriculture and forestry to create a sustainable and self-sufficient model. Our approach ensures daily food security and provides both short-term and long-term income streams.
A Holistic Mixed-Farming Approach
A 1-2 acre mixed farm can support a family’s basic needs. We grow food for daily consumption and produce for sale. All crops are cultivated organically: no use of pesticides or herbicides. By combining crops with trees, we enhance biodiversity and improve yields naturally.
Scaling Sustainable Agriculture
Our ultimate goal is to plant 18 acres of trees. During the transition we plan to grow organically naturally resilient cash crops on a larger scale to generate reliable income.
Preserving Tradition and Innovating for the Future
We prioritize native tree species to restore the local ecosystem. At the same time, we incorporate proven tree varieties from other regions to enhance soil fertility and improve farm productivity.
Our agroforestry system is a model of resilience, balancing immediate needs with long-term sustainability.

Offset Your CO2 Emissions with Us
Are you ready to take action against climate change? Our farm offers a practical way for international travelers to offset their CO2 emissions from intercontinental flights.
How It Works
Join us in planting trees during your visit. We recommend a voluntary contribution of 10 Tsh per return kilometer—approximately €30 for a round-trip flight from Europe. This supports the planting and upkeep of 4 trees, with 2 expected to thrive for 25–30 years.
See Your Impact Grow
Stay connected to your contribution! Every six months, you'll receive a photo update showcasing the growth of your trees.
Why Your Support Matters
Sustainability and environmental protection takes investment. Your sponsorship helps us expand our mission and deliver long-term environmental benefits.
Take a step towards a greener future — offset your CO2 emissions (Calculator) and create a lasting impact, one tree at a time. (Read more about the offset)

Research and Monitoring: Ensuring Sustainable Growth
At Kibo's Ecoplace, we are committed to fostering sustainable forestry and agriculture through research and monitoring. By tracking the growth and health of trees and crops, we aim to identify the species best suited to the unique conditions of each area.
Our approach emphasizes collaboration with local and international forestry and agriculture organizations to ensure informed decisions at every stage—from tree and crop selection to planting and ongoing monitoring. Together, we work to optimize biodiversity, promote soil health, and enhance long-term sustainability for ecosystems and communities alike.
