The trail begins at the Agroforestry Farm Kibo Eco-place. The surface varies from clay to rocky gravel and dusty sand. Watch out for sharp rocks. After a short (technical) climb, you gradually descend to the savannah plain between Mount Meru to the west and Mount Kilimanjaro to the east. Here you are likely to see zebra and gazelles. Also wildebeest. You will pass a small forest where you may see giraffes. After the bend in the road, you will have views of Mt Meru all the way. The landscape gradually changes with beautiful views of overgrown hills. You will pass through a stretch of very loose sand where you will probably have to walk a bit. Finally, you enter a hilly area on a narrow path before starting the gentle descent to Kibo's Ecoplace.
